Diplomat A-1

– A member of consulate or diplomatic delegation of a foreign government approved by the Republic of Korea
– A person granted with the same level of diplomatic privileges and exemptions as diplomatic delegations in accordance with international agreements or practices
– Immediate family members of the above

Eligibility criteria for application

You are eligible to apply for this visa if you are:

1. A member of diplomatic delegation or consulate
– Diplomatic mission: a foreign relations service officer such as ambassador, minister, councilor and secretary
– Consular Mission: consular officers such as consul general and consul
2. Person granted with the same level of privileges and immunities with a diplomatic/consular mission in accordance with international agreements and treaties
– Secretary General or Deputy Secretary General of the UN, or Executive Director of the UN agencies
– Head of State, Cabinet member, head of legislature (including both heads of houses in a country with a bicameral system), member of foreign delegation to attend a meeting hosted by the government of ROK.
3. Immediate family members of the above applicants
– Parents, spouse, child residing in ROK together with the above applicants

Visa Type

You can apply for a single-entry or multiple-entry visa, and you will be allowed to stay in Korea until the end of your assignment.

Documents

① Visa Application Form (Form No. 17), passport(Laissez-passer, international organization passer, diplomatic passport), a photo in a standard format
② A document demonstrating your current employment status and overseas assignment, or an official letter of cooperation written by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of an applicant’s country
③ A certificate of family relation and any documents proving family relationship for an accompanied family member

※ The head of Korean diplomatic missions abroad may request for additional documents depending on the condition of the country of residence/jurisdiction if it is deemed necessary for visa evaluation.

1. Officials and conference attendees of an international organization located in Korea
2. Immediate family members of the above applicants.

If you want to work at the embassy/consulate of your country in Korea, you can apply for a multiple-entry visa. In this case, you will be allowed to stay in Korea until the end of your assignment. However, if you are just visiting Korea on a short-term assignment, you can apply for a single-entry visa. Please contact the Korean Embassy or Consulate General(s) in your country for more information.

※ In accordance with the agreements, an eligible applicant is limited to Director of the International Vaccine Institute, Secretary General of Green Climate Fund and secretariat worker whose position is equivalent to P-5 or higher defined in the UN position category approved by the government of ROK
2. Immediate family members of the above applicants.

② A document demonstrating an applicant’s current employment status and overseas assignment, or an official letter written by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of an applicant’s country or the head of an applicant’s organization requesting cooperation
③ Proof documents of family relations for accompanying family

※ The head of Immigration Office may request for additional documents if it is deemed necessary to review the purpose of entry, validity of an invitation, and qualification of an inviting organization or an invitee.
